LBTQ Women

Dogs and Dykes

Dogs & Dykes are a very friendly, informal & relaxed gathering of both dog owning and non dog owning people who identify as lesbian, queer, bi sexual, trans, gay and non binary or anyone who identifies as a woman.

They meet up for all kinds of activities with and without our four legged friends.

General walks with our dogs are typically about an hour or so, although some outings may be longer. The pace is chilled & easy going, as is the atmosphere! It's a lovely opportunity to socialise with friendly faces & paws and make new 2 & 4 legged friends.

Other activities include attending meet up events together such as our very own Pink Friday and our own outdoor organised activities such as picnics, swimming, paddleboarding or anything suggested by the group.

Many of the dog walks are kept short (about an hour) to help accommodate puppies and older dogs.

We are hoping to grow our reach to LBTQ+ women within Sutton and its neighbouring boroughs.

This might be way of regular socials in the borough and/or group attendance at key events in the LBQT women’s calendar.

If you have any ideas or suggestions we would love to hear from you.

Alternatively, if you know about regular events aimed at women, we can list them here to encourage more women from LGBT Sutton to attend and join.

In the meantime, why not check out the following resources:

Sutton Women’s Centre is run by local women for the benefit of local women, and our aim is to empower women in our community to help them achieve their full potential.
For over 30 years we have provided local women with a safe space where they can access information, support, advice and education – with on average over 200 women a week accessing our services.
Our wide range of services are designed to support women overcome many of the issues and challenges they are confronted by – domestic abuse; the need to develop new skills; lack of self-esteem; lack of self-confidence; and being isolated.
All our work empowers women, to help them:

  • Reduce their isolation
  • Improve their skills
  • Improve their health and wellbeing
  • Improve their life chances
